Should You Add Breadcrumbs to Burgers?

The egg is an essential ingredient in empanadas, acting as a binder to help them keep their shape and retain moisture during cooking. Similarly, breadcrumbs can be added to minced meat to absorb the natural juices during cooking and return that moisture to the meat as it rests, resulting in a juicier hamburger, meatball, or meatloaf. If you're using fresh meat, adding an absorbent ingredient such as breadcrumbs or even shredded bread from the pantry can be a great way to ensure that your hamburger stays together. When you're ready to melt the cheese on top of the burgers, spray 2-3 tablespoons of water directly onto the pan around the burgers.

If you're cooking the burgers on the grill, add the cheese when you turn them over for the last time. To make your next hamburger extra juicy and flavorful, consider adding a touch of sour cream, mayonnaise, cream cheese, yogurt, or a similar agent that helps retain moisture and gives the hamburger a unique flavor. Additionally, be sure not to add too much salt to the ground beef mixture as this can cause the hamburger to become sticky, hard, and cook unevenly in the middle. Finally, adding some breadcrumbs to your hamburger can give it a crunchy texture after it's cooked.

While it may seem like an odd combination at first, there is actually a very reasonable method for this madness.
